 Horizon Society Gala Event

Foothills Conservancy will host our 3rd annual Horizon Society Gala Event at historic Quaker Meadows Plantation again this year.  

Quaker Meadows Plantation - built in 1812-1820, is located on St. Mary's Church Road, Morganton. This Federal-style brick
plantation house was built by Captain Charles McDowell, son of Revolutionary War Leader Colonel Charles McDowell, and is
sited on land settled by the McDowells in 1760. Overmountain men camped on the grounds and planned their march to the Battle
of King's Mountain. The house was given to the Historic Burke Foundation in 1986 by Crescent Land and Timber Corporation,
was beautifully renovated and has been open to the public as a regional historic site since 1998.
