Foothills Conservancy’s purchase and transfer of 90 acres of land near Old Fort to North Carolina State Parks was a step in the Fonta Flora State Trail expansion project. The property, previously owned by Melanie Goodson, was a puzzle piece in the continuing effort to build a 90-mile trail reaching from Morganton to Asheville. The conservancy remains diligent as more tracts of land become available along this proposed route for addition to the trail.
