2006
Using grant funds awarded by NC’s Clean Water Management Trust Fund, Foothills Conservancy acquired a 341-acre bargain sale conservation easement from the Creston Development next to the Conservancy’s Catawba River Headwaters Preserve. The project protected over 2 miles of the Left Prong Catawba River and its tributaries, its sheltering forests, and habitat for wildlife including black bears. The Left Prong is an important watershed at the headwaters of the Catawba River adjoining Pisgah National Forest near Catawba Falls.
