2008
On behalf of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, Foothills Conservancy purchased the Lutz and Elam parcels along National Wild & Scenic Wilson Creek, which provided 4 miles of high quality trout stream along state-designated Outstanding Resource Waters for public fishing and other passive recreation uses. The tremendous partnership effort, including the local Friends of Wilson Creek, Caldwell County, and NC’s Clean Water Management Trust Fund, protected 500 acres of vulnerable lands, unique habitat, and Wilson Creek streamside areas that were originally slated for residential subdivision and development.
