Foothills Conservancy Catawba Headwaters Preserve was expanded to 1,147 acres. The Preserve is the prominent viewshed from Interstate 40 between Old Fort and Black Mountain, NC. A conservation easement was placed on a Rutherford County farm on Maple Creek, which is a tributary of the Broad River. Permanent protection of this farm brought the total acres of farmland protected through conservation easements to 1,185.
