Foothills Conservancy Hosts Presentation on the History of Pisgah National Forest by Author Marci Spencer, February 20

WHAT: Presentation: A History of Pisgah National ForestWHO: Foothills Conservancy of North CarolinaWHERE: Historic Burke County Courthouse, 102 E Union St, Morganton, NC 28655WHEN: Saturday, February 20, 2016 • 10:30 a.m. – noonCOST: Free to Foothills Conservancy members; Non-members $10On Saturday, February 20, Foothills Conservancy of North Carolina hosts “A History of Pisgah National Forest,” a presentation by author Marci Spencer beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Historic Burke County Courthouse in downtown Morganton.Pisgah National Forest includes more than half-a-million acres in three districts in Western North Carolina. Spencer’s presentation will introduce attendees to conservationists, foresters, historians, and others who have shaped the rich history of Pisgah National Forest.Since 2004, Foothills Conservancy has added more than 3,600 acres to Pisgah National Forest adjoining the Linville Gorge and above Lake James and at Catawba Falls.A naturalist and historian, Marci Spencer is the author of Pisgah National Forest: A History (2014) and Clingmans Dome: Highest Mountain in the Great Smokies (2013) both published by History Press. She is also the author of a children’s book Potluck, Message Delivered: “The Great Smoky Mountains are Saved!” which is inspired by true events.
