Volunteer Workday: Tree Planting

Help plant tree seedlings at Oak Hill Community Park & Forest!

Background: Oak Hill Community Park and Forest is 652 acres of land acquired by Foothills Conservancy of NC in 2020. We had lots of community input about what to do with the land and developed a master plan (available on our website). Part of that plan is to re-naturalize several previously clear cut areas. This tree planting is helping to do just that!

What to expect: Meet at the parking area in Oak Hill. Volunteers will hitch a short ride, in the back of a work truck, to the tree planting site. We will give a demonstration on how to plant the trees. Volunteers will be given a variety of tools to carry including: buckets of soil, spades, and rubber mallets. There are no bathrooms on site. Tools, gloves, water, and training provided.

All volunteers are invited to grab a drink with us at Fonta Flora Brewery in downtown Morganton after the event!

What to bring (if you have it!):

  • Close toed shoes

  • Daypack

  • Refillable water bottle

  • Dress in layers for warmth

  • A sense of adventure!
